Life Beyond

Our Houses.

·

Four houses. One family. Named for the four Vedas — the oldest attempt in human record to organise what we know, how we sing, what we do, and what we wonder about.

The House System

A small family, inside the school.

Every Vedam child, from Nursery to Grade 12, belongs to one of four houses. Houses compete year-round across academics, sport, arts, and service — but the deeper purpose is quieter. A house is where a Grade 2 child knows a Grade 10 captain by name, and where the school stops being 'big.'

Rigveda

Knowledge & Wisdom

The house of the seeker. Rigveda children carry the quiet fire of study — the readers, the researchers, the ones who ask the second question. Their year runs on quizzes, debates, and the library corner they've quietly made their own.

Harmony & Expression

The house of the voice. Samaveda gathers the singers, the actors, the poets, and the ones who can hold a room quiet. Their calendar is stitched with music evenings, theatre nights, and choir practice you can hear from the lawns.

Action & Discipline

The house of the doer. Yajurveda is where sport meets stamina — the early risers, the captains, the ones who finish what they start. Athletics day, inter-house football, and the drill of showing up belong to this house.

Curiosity & Discovery

The house of the maker. Atharvaveda is the STEM lab at dusk, the science fair prototype, the kid who takes the clock apart to see how it thinks. Robotics, sustainability projects, and long questions live here.

How Houses Work

From a pin, to a lifetime.

Sorted on Day One

Every new Vedam child is welcomed into a house on their first week — with a small ceremony, a house pin, and older siblings-by-house who will look out for them.

Competing all year

Houses earn points across academics, sport, arts, service, and citizenship. The House Cup is awarded at the closing assembly each March.

Belonging for life

A Vedam house is not a jersey — it is a small family within the school. Alumni return to their house colours on Founder's Day, years after they've left.

Come meet the houses.

On a campus visit, ask any child which house they're in — you'll get the answer, the crest, and a story, in that order.
